summer
Summer, Oh Summer
Oh when the sun shines,
and the sky is blue
when the air is clear,
and there’s no homework due
Oh Summer, oh Summer
The birds fly away
When summer goes away
I don’t know what to say
It’s such a bummer
there’s no more hooray
I just sit in my home
with homework to do
I’m sitting alone
without my crew
Summer please come back
I can’t live without you
Oh just let me pack, and come to you
Oh Summer, do you miss me too?

My Summer Island
A happy day
Light at 6 am
Already the warmth creeps in
Enriching my cup of coffee.
Bees buzz at eye height
Busy and not caring for your presence.
Pollen and home again
A peaceful life.
Down to the shoreline
Where the wash of waves
Will put you in a doze
Propped againt a rock
Or laid out on the beach.
Bright blue sky,
Not a cloud in sight
Make me reach for sunglasses
And strip off my top.
The sand, bright pink
Adds a beauty,
That visitors will remember
And come back as always.

Summer
he smoke shakes
beneath my roof
and I pour the first glass
of the day.
Outside the world is bathed
in bright sunshine
and people pass my window
in the usual summer dress.
It’s over rated if you ask me.
Give me a storm,
the rain pounding the streets
like the wraith of God,
lighting tearing the sky in two,
thunder rolling like a freight-train.
Give me clouds that leer in
through the window
with the threat of violence.
Give me the sounds
that make people bow their
heads in fear.
That’s when you know you’re alive.
When nature has the planet
by it’s balls and you realise
that with one fail swoop
she could just wipe us all out.
But instead I have this.
Colourful people
in colourful clothes
saying things like
‘Hot enough for you’
‘Man, what about this weather.’
Blissful in their ignorance
and far
far
too
damn
happ y.

Summer Morning
summer morning
in the dawn light, louisiana,
a sweet town, bleak, god knows
but sweet sometimes. And
weren’t we fine tonight?
A district of small factories,
and a there’s a field, one morning
when i was there with a since of time
i saw in the distance oppostie
men and women working at machines
now and then one looked up
you see the heat on the plantation as you watch
oh! think what tales twould have to tell me
im twenty-four years older myself-
bad years and good

Summer Night
the coolest colours of blue
the warmest shades of yellow
the aired movement of waves in the
light summer breeze
the slowest movement of clouds
the russels in the trees
the wavy lines of land
where the ocean meets the sea

The Perfect Summer
There are wondrous places to find, to
help you unwind, under trees, that have
ample shading. A place within reach,
close to the beach, making it accessible
to go bathing. The kids are excited now,
as we approach our destination. They’re
talked about it constantly, since their
summer vacation. It’s invigorating, being
outdoors, breathing in the fresh salty air.
As a matter of fact, I’d rather be here,
then almost anywhere. When it’s time to
eat, it’s a special treat, there’s lots of
good things, we brought from home.
Everything, tastes so delicious, because
now, you’re not eating alone. The day starts
to dwindle down, it’s time for us to go. It was
a perfect day, in every way and I don’t mind,
telling you so!

Perfect Summer
their was a time I knew what you were thinking
I could even pick up on what you were feeling
But these days I don’t know you
I couldn’t even guess
Not really knowing who you are
Not knowing what to expect
But loving you
Caring for you
With every fibre of my being
knowing that I should let go
Knowing that what I based it on
Is no longer their
No longer exists
But being unable to let it go
Unable to not care about you
I wish I could go back to a time
A time when you weren’t in my life
Or back to that one summer
The summer were it all clicked
The summer it was all perfect
That blissful summer were all my worries fell away
I felt safe and content
And thought I would always be happy
But then the summer ended
Reality hit again
I started work and responsibility hit
And things were never the same again

Summer Gonna Like Summer!
The heatwave comes and clothes must change,
The swelter has arrived,
With sudden day trips to arrange
For those once heat-deprived…
So get the kids into that car,
Fill up with petrol, too,
We’re not there yet, it’s way too far,
We’re going to the zoo!
And so the kids stare at each cage,
With oohs and ahs to boot,
With every creature there to gauge,
On if it’s really cute…
The creatures stare back like before,
Just like they do each day,
Until the kids choose to ignore
And simply walk away…
The swelter wearies all on Earth
Within its clammy hold,
Till many wonder what it’s worth,
So hot, not cool, or cold…
Then storm clouds signal change again,
With lightning bolts so loud,
God’s power proves beyond our ken,
We’re humbled, not so proud…
An evening chill indwells each home,
The sweating then subsides,
Though Summer’s like the honeycomb,
It’s here and then it hides…
Enjoy it when it’s not too hot,
Enough to make you smile,
Though short, dear friends, it’s all we’ve got,
Till it returns in style!

Summer Shower
A drop fell on the apple tree,
Another on the roof;
A half a dozen kissed the eaves,
And made the gables laugh.
A few went out to help the brook,
That went to help the sea.
Myself conjectured, Were they pearls,
What necklaces could be!
The dust replaced in hoisted roads,
The birds jocoser sung;
The sunshine threw his hat away,
The orchards spangles hung.
The breezes brought dejected lutes,
And bathed them in the glee;
The East put out a single flag,
And signed the fete away.
