Just A Quiet Summer Afternoon
Just a quiet summer afternoon
Easy comfortable conversation
Two old friends
Catching up on each others lives
Touching only in passing,
And lightly,
On the past they had shared.
Did they think
Their worlds so different
And needs so
Changed?
That the passing years
Had faded passion
Like a photograph
Left too long in the sun?
When he leaned in to kiss her cheek
Was it her loneliness and longing
That turned her lips to his?
Was it his emptiness and needing
That stretched and deepened his kiss?
If the hour had not been so late
If home and family had not called.
Would she have stayed?
And in each other’s
Arms could they have
For one quiet summer afternoon
Found comfort in forgetting
And release in remembering?
Touching only in passing,
And lightly,
On the past they had shared.

Summer Is The Perfect Time
The sun was shining brightly
As I drove home from school today;
The days are getting warmer and
The rain had gone away.
Summer is a time to be
Enjoying summer days
Relaxing, reading, sleeping late,
Swimming, catching rays.
No more schedules ‘til the fall,
No schoolwork to get done;
Summer is the perfect time
For having lots of fun.
I can stay up later now
And watch my favorite shows,
Go to movies, shop the malls,
And, after that, who knows?
Let’s make the most of every day,
There is no time to lose,
It’s wonderful to have the chance
To do anything we choose.
‘Cause it’s not fun to play alone,
Come spend a day with me;
Summer is the perfect time,
I know you will agree.

Summer Heat
The summer sand was so hot
it almost melted our feet
so that the water-cooled sand
felt like a bit of heaven.
But we put our blankets
on the searing sand anyhow,
and we listened to laughing children
and raucously rude gulls crying overhead.
The sound of the waves
gently bumping
into the beach
sang a summer lullabye.
The sun skipped across
the tops of the waves
and the heat melted
our bodies together.

A Summer Afternoon
I’m laying here.
In the lush, green grass.
I am at peace, there is nothing to fear.
I am doing nothing, but sitting on my butt.
A light wind.
Brushes against my face.
It’s whispering to me.
Saying words that I can’t hear.
A twig snaps.
Just behind my head.
What would want to disturb me?
Lying here, peaceful and at balance?
A purring sound.
Like a buzzing and humming bee.
It’s just my cat.
Climbing to lie on top of me.

Summer Morning
summer morning
in the dawn light, louisiana,
a sweet town, bleak, god knows
but sweet sometimes. And
weren’t we fine tonight?
A district of small factories,
and a there’s a field, one morning
when i was there with a since of time
i saw in the distance oppostie
men and women working at machines
now and then one looked up
you see the heat on the plantation as you watch
oh! think what tales twould have to tell me
im twenty-four years older myself-
bad years and good

Summer Rain
Your arms are conforting, loving
Like sinking into a warm water bed
You dance like a pine tree moving
Your feet are as sturdy as lead
I love to feel your strong body tense
Driving the four wheeler top speed
As we fly through the bushes dense
And try not to swallow grass seeds

Summer Rain
Like a summer rain she fell
That hot September hour
And caught unawares he was drenched,
He lost all power
Of thinking clearly, went giddy,
Shook –
Shaking within him the citadel of equanimity
To a rubble.
‘I would go
Through a hundred times as strong rain,
A thousand times such trouble
(She was uncommon) ,
If over the ruins of my equanimity
She will build a new strength
Of love, or she is no woman! ‘

Summer Rain Summer
I am a comer new comer
You tell me tale summer.
Oh summer you tell me
Cheer in mind you see.
Although it is our season
Rainy time within reason
Region is wet in hope less
You have come to us bless.
Little drops here fall of rain,
Still you wash out our pain.
Veil you cover in the warm,
Rainy summer humours form.
Waves come more on sea,
We bow down before knee.
Plays drum tall a drummer
You tell me tale summer.
I am a comer new comer
You tell me tale summer.

Morning Of Summer
A day begins, shadows disappear,
smuggle,
a small twilight appears
there is a messenger of the great sun.
You step over and sing
sun wakes up slowly
blood-coloured landscape is projected in the distance
that I see it from my house.
Farmers have arrived on the plain
and the effort stays in their hands
machines that thresh wheat,
throw around ducats.
Shaves have gathered gently
work is now in height
sun is made a place
above us at noon.

Land Of Summer
I go to a land not so far away,
To see you there,
And again another day.
There is the land now, it’s coming.
Here you are I see,
Trying to keep from crying.
I see it in your eyes again,
The bitter tears,
That sep’rated us then.
‘Twasn’t hate or bitterness, nay.
Just yourself and,
Your joyful temperament that day.
When will this all end, I wonder.
So close to something,
Yet so far from summer.
Summer was and will always be,
How I remember you,
And how I will see.
See I will, with those clear blue eyes.
See right through you,
Like unsettling spies.
Spies that hunt and rob and torture,
Rob me of everything,
But save me my wonder.
